A new team of researchers at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health have discovered a fruit that is likely to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease if taken each week.

They found out that replacing animal products, cheese or processed meat with Avocado with an equivalent amount of avocado that it will likely lower the risk cardiovascular events.

The study was first published in the journal of the American Heart Association.

According to the researchers, a 30 year data of 110,000 female and male participants in the Nurses’ Health Study and 2Health Professionals Follow-Up was looked into.

After series of deliberations and experiments on a wide range of cardiovascular risk factors and overall diet, it was concluded that those who ate at least two weekly servings of avocado had a 16% chance of lower cardiovascular disease and 21% percent lower risk of coronary heart disease during the period of study.

The suggestion and recommendation of replacing some certain type of spread and fats such as Cheese and processed meats with avocado, is something health care specialist and dieticians can easily do when they are dealing with patients, said Lorena Pacheco who is Ph.D research fellow at the Harvard Chan School’s Department of Nutrition.
